When starting your business, did you go from what to why? Or did your 'why' create your 'what?' Most importantly…. What the hell am I talking about?
If you're in business and you haven't heard of the Golden Circle Approach, you're not alone. I only learned about Simon Sinek's theory when I started taking Hubspot's free content marketing certification course. But if you're in business because you're passionate about what you do, like I am, then you're probably taking the Golden Circle Approach without even realizing it!
What is the Golden Circle Approach?
Chances are, you started your business because you care about something. And the product or service you selling probably solves a problem related to that thing you care about. What you might not know is that your customers seek out your business in a similar way: when they find you, they start with the 'why.'
This is Simon Sinek's theory on why some companies rise above the rest -- even if their products are virtually identical to their competition. Those companies tap into the reasons why their customers find them, and create content that speaks to their 'why.'
How to Capture Your Customers' Why
So, how do you create content that speaks to your customers' why? That's where we come in. Instead of communicating what you do to your customers and how it works, tell your customers why you're making this product. Connect your why to your how before telling customers what you're selling.
